Business Health Check - #1 Strategy & Planning

Today's Next LVL Business Tip is the first in a series of six we are doing on the business health check categories.

The first category in the Business Health Check we will start with is strategy and planning.

You need to think of your strategy as your vision or your goals. To put it in a metaphor,

your destination of where you want to go with your business and also by when.

You marry that up with your planning and that's your GPS. Your roadmap of how you're going to get there.

So when we're having a look at this category, what we're really looking at is what was your plan for the last financial year or the last calendar year or may in the last quarter? And how did you go

Did you hit all of the milestones you wanted to hit?

Are you achieving your objectives?

If you did, great. What worked?

If you didn't, what got in the way?

The next part is then using those insights and building for the year ahead.

What do you have in the plan to get you to your destination in the next period?

Whether that's a year, six months or just three months, you should be asking yourself these fundamental questions:

• What is your plan to get you there?

• Do you need to tweak anything?

• Are you on the right track?

• Have you got the right people?

• Have you got the right resources?

• Have you got enough money to make you reach your goals for that next period ahead?

• How do you get closer to your destination?

So every single year you should be getting closer and closer to your strategic objective and getting to that destination.

Doing this step in your health check, will really reveal to you if you're on the right track or if you need to change some things.
