Today's Next LVL Business Tip is how to successfully apply for a business grant. Now, this is a very topical tip subject because there are lots of these going around at the moment.

Whether it be from federal government, state government, local councils, or even industry groups. 

There's a lot of focus at the moment of helping businesses bounce back after the year, that was the COVID pandemic.There were lots of grants out there. And here's how you can put your best foot forward to get some of that funding.

#1 Read Everything

The first tip is to read everything. It can be overwhelming at first, but 9 times out of 10 there's information there for a reason. So read the fine print and really understand the criteria for the grant before you invest the effort.

#2 Be Prepared

The second tip is to prepare in advance. So as soon as you decide that you would like to apply for a grant, start working on your application, because it can actually take quite a bit of time to get all your documentation in place.

#3 Ask For Help

The third tip is to get help. So if writing a proposal or writing an application is just not in your wheelhouse. Don't worry. Because there actually are people out there who do this for a living. There are professional grant writers out there who can help you. And even like a vendor that you'd like to work with your grant money should be able to help you as well, because it's a win-win situation for the two of you.

#4 Answer All The Questions

The fourth tip is to answer the questions directly in your application. And this is really important because as you can imagine people who are putting on grants, they get a lot of applications come in. And so they're going through them all the time. And if it's hard for them to answer the criteria and to understand what your business does and what you're looking to use the funding for, then you're less likely to go through to the next round and be shortlisted. So answer directly and you're well on your way to getting a grant.

#5 Submit Your Application On Time

And then the last tip of course, is to submit your application ASAP. So as soon as they open, whether it's 9:00 AM on the day of make sure you're ready, submit all your documentation. Because sometimes yeah. Grants are only open until the funding requests are exhausted, not even granted just requests. And we've definitely seen that over the last year that the, within 48 hours grants can completely finish. So make sure you get in early and if you've prepared, you've got all your answers, you answer directly, then you'll, you're absolutely well on your way to getting a grant.
