What I Learnt in Business Last Week - 17th May - Sparking Energy & Creativity

Jasmine here from the LVL Up Consulting with this week's edition of what I learnt in business last week.

So for me personally, the count down is on until I'm officially on maternity leave. And for those who know me, they know that I'll never fully leave the business. I'll be checking in every day, but it will be nice to have some time off and to spend it with my baby. But what that means these final sort of four weeks of work is that I'm actually hyper aware of getting stuff done and doing things really efficiently. So hopefully my lessons over the next few weeks that I share are valuable to you as well.

So something that I observed last week thankfully this wasn't a direct observation of my business, but of other businesses. And that is as a leader, you are only as good as the people around you. And what I mean by that is if you have a toxicity or people who are just, trouble in your team, who other people just don't want to work with, who cause strife, who are blocking things for the sake of blocking things; that actually reflects on you as a leader. You are only as good as what you walk past or who you walk past in this case. If that's not what you want to be known for, you're going to need to step in and do something about it because unfortunately, a lot of people make the assumption that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

The second thing I observed in business last week is the value of stepping out of the day-to-day, which can be really hard, particularly if you are a small business owner, trying to make as much revenue as possible. But the value of stepping out of the day-to-day doing something different. It absolutely sparks your energy, your creativity, connects you with your team. And that's exactly how I spent my Friday last week. So we were very fortunate. We did get gifted a brand photo shoot as a team. So we spent the morning doing that.

We then had a wonderful lunch that we hosted in the city for The LVLing Up Project, which is our LinkedIn group. And in the afternoon we spent it with some clients at a farewell. So the whole day was spent doing not our day-to-day project management. However I've come in Monday, energized, revitalized, ready to tackle, these next four weeks. So don't forget to do that, it can be really, really good for your business.

That's what I learnt in business last week. I'll see you next week. Have a good one.
