What I Learnt in Business Last Week - 31st - Prepping for Mat Leave
Hi, everybody, Jasmine here from LVL Up Consulting
For the next three weeks, instead of sharing what I learnt in business, I'm actually going to share with you what I've learnt about planning to step away from my business. Which is a really unique situation and not one that small business owners do very often. But you might be like me, you might be going on maternity leave or going on a really big family holiday (that no doubt you have earnt and deserve!). And it can be really daunting to step away from your business and not be involved in it day to day. So I'm going to share with you some of the experiences and learnings as I prepare to step away in the next three weeks.
Today I want to talk about throwing your employees in the deep end. This is something that I don't do very well. I like to get in there, get my hands dirty, help the team, and then be there when they need me to be. But if you're planning to go away and you can't always be that crutch for your employees.
So my plan is, I am going to throw them in the deep end, but I'm going to throw them in them in while I'm still here. Because having a baby means I could go at any minute. So as of today, my team are going to be running the show. I will be a humble employee and just here to be an advisor, guide them and watch them. I absolutely have no doubt that they're going to not only swim, but they're probably going to win the race.
So that's my first lesson of how step away from your business. Step away in a transitional way.
I'll see you next week with what I'm learning, see you then.
