Project Management Tip of the Week - 27th September
Hello, Jasmine here from LVL Up Consulting with this week's project management tip of the week. And this week I want to talk all about having an accurate schedule at all times. So I am the first to admit that when it comes to knowing the tasks, dependencies, tolerances that come with a project my schedule is pretty much up here which is no help to anybody but me.
So my, my tip for you this week is to, whatever tool you're using, whether it be Excel, MS project Smartsheet, written down, have an accurate and up to date schedule at all times. Now, why, why is this important? Well, first and foremost it is great governance, so you can report on percentage complete and what is coming up and what stage you're at in a project to your project board or to your sponsor that is excellent. More importantly though, as the project manager, you are ultimately responsible for making sure that work is delivered on time, to scope and to budget. And the only way to know that is to know what is coming up and what is due that week. So be on top of it, you should, at all times have an accurate schedule and that should correlate into your task management tool that you are using.
So that is why it's important take the time, to make sure it is up to date block out time every week and you will be well ahead of where you need to be, and you will deliver that project on time on budget, to scope. I'll see you next time for a project management tip of the week.
